Health, Food, Nutrition related

http://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/features/coffee-new-health-foodLets talk about topics related to your and mine greatest wealth - HEALTH:
  • Coffee/Tea - always hot!!! - Coffee and Tea are favorite drinks for many. Now we hear all kinds of arguments for and against drinking the same. Example: Drinking Coffee is good for health. And then - Coffee/Tea not good for health. What does one do, what to follow ?
Drink Tea. It is definitely milder in every which way, and has benefits - provided you take tea without milk. Milk kills the good chemicals in tea. Details are here. Additionally, my suggestion is to drink Tea with NO sugar, and if you must, then take sugar on the side rather than mixing with tea.

Did you miss this news...

Collection of news that is useful in one way or another:

1 Life. Live it. Today won't come back for me, for you, or anyone.

Our most valuable possession is life!. And we won't live 1000 years, not even a few hundred years. Some of the things we end up doing, when I reflect on it - it would seem like I'll get back on it in - never. Like - cricket is my first passion, but I didn't play it for almost 5-6 years. Instead I should have made all possible efforts to play it all the time. Now I do play every week - and believe me, my whole week goes by with that hope, I work out with enthusiasm because of that etc. So here, I talk about out "Precious Valuable Life" and how we should value it:
  • Write a Book: Ever heard of the book "Malagudi Days". The famous writer lived his entire wishes as a child by writing Malagudi days. And how beautiful the book and the stories are - everyone will agree. You have similar stories, experiences, dreams. Please write and share. No one has similar thoughts like you. You don't have to think too much about it, just start writing in a notepad. Few lines a day - or howsoever you want to. Write about your life, your passion, your story, your kids, your today. It'll be nice.
  • The biggest bang for your buck is - "An experience you cherish". I have heard folks put off that vacation to that beautiful place for many reasons. I would say the biggest bang for your buck is always - "an experience". Be it an ice cream, or be it that Hawaii trip that will never erase out of your memory. Our eye sight gets weaker with every passing year, we better have more and many of these beautiful experiences earlier in life, and cherish those lovely memories longer than not. What is the point in buying a BMW when you get older, when your eye sight cannot keep up with the speed :-), get that beamer today! - if that is your dream.
  • 4 Stages of Life - My perspective: From birth to going away - we have the gift of life, and my take is that our life has 4 stages (I am sure there are other similar definitions) :
    - Stage-1
: As a baby, creation brings you in, the world and nature, and your parents accept you in their arms and nourishes and makes your thrive. They give to you.
    - Stage-2: As a teenager/youth - the family takes care of you - educate you, teach you, mentor you, love you. They take care of you.
    - Stage-3: As an adult - you create the family, you are the parent, you are the provider. You take care of your creations and your family. Give back to the family.
    - Stage-4: Final lap - Give back to the nature and the world. Pay back time.

Kiddos...

  • Computers??, Later/Anytime: I have learned that the best things I can give to kids when they are young are: lots of love, healthy food, lots of sleep. No stress - as that is what one gets anyways - throughout life - no matter how smart we ended up - I see myself here. I am trying to help them become good human beings. I learned computers within 1 year of my life, so they can easily catch up on TV, video, computers and stuff - anytime. Hopefully I am making sense here.

Honey, Cinnamon, Ginger etc are great home remedies....

HONEY and CINNAMON ~ I Bet the drug companies won't like this one getting around.
Facts on Honey and Cinnamon: It is found that a mixture of honey and cinnamon cures most diseases.
Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today also accept honey as a 'Ram Ban' (very effective) medicine for all kinds of diseases.
Honey can be used without any side effects for any kind of diseases.
Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, if taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients. Weekly World News, a magazine in Canada , in its issue dated 17 January, 1995 has given
the following list of diseases that can be cured by honey and cinnamon as researched by western scientists:
HEART DISEASES:
Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, apply on bread, instead of jelly and jam, and eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the cholesterol in the arteries and saves the patient from heart attack. Also those who

Smart Tricks on Money

  • Buy Everything for FREE:  HOW? Here is how....with an example. Lets say you want to buy a furniture that costs $500, don't buy if you don't have $1000 to budget. Out of this, of course, use the $500 to buy the furniture, and invest the other $500 where you get a good rate of return. Currently there are options where you can get upto 8%,9% interest rates in banks that have been around for more than 100 years. Even better if you can earn a higher rate (stocks etc). Expecting the furniture's life to be 5-8 years, at 8-9%, the other $500 will double to $1000 in those 8-9 years. So, it ends up to be FREE. You can apply this principle to other purchases as well.

Save Money! ( Specific item is marked at start in [ ] )

  • [Phone] Make calls from anywhere, on road, etc using your 'HOME' Vonage service ($24.99) per month. I USE THIS on iPhone. Steps: 1. Get Vonage Home service (you already know that you can make unlimited calls using this). 2. Download FREE iPhone app - Vongo (FREE). Call from anywhere. Call me if this description is not clear.
  • [iPhone] Save Benjis is a great FREE app. I use it.
  • [Gas]  I use www.moregallons.com and www.mygallons.com. Best part of it is, you can do this from anywhere in the world.
  • [TIME/$$] JCPenny, Macy's, GAP Etc have mobile coupons now - NO MORE PAPER Ads On the iPhone apps like Coupon Sherpa give you direct access to JCPenny, Macy's, Target ads. And I had my first experience in August 2010, when I was at a JCPenny store bought something, forgot to bring the $10 coupon along, pulled the coupon on the iPhone and the store just scanned the coupon right off of my iPhone and I got the discount.
An example: For the following coupons you can pretty much do everything on your mobile phone

  •

Latessttt - For you!

My Stock Market Theory Right now..

  • I recommend to sell gold, starting when the price hits $1700 and thereon. The gold prices will come down within $1000 sometime in the next 5 years. Turn around and buy gold at that time, buy new jewelery and make some money! ( 60% of world's gold was used in jewelery till last year. And most jewelery is in India. There is no way majority of Indian public can afford gold at these prices, so it has to become affordable. Now you connect the dots. Some wise thinking and patience will help).
  • You hold cash, it is not earning any interest (.25% to 1% is the norm at banks). BUT, hold it that way. The banks, policy makers want you to feel that way - that it is a waste saving money at these rates, and they want you to spend money or invest in riskier things like stocks etc.
  • TIPS, stocks and Treasury Bills: Also, based on where we are – Fed is printing money, interest rates are zero, recession is on, stock market is moving +ve indicating industry making money – how do you keep your money, earn something on it, and still keep it valuable and not depreciate ? here are your options: (TIPS, stocks and Treasury Bills make sense). Read about these to understand them better.
  • DIVIDEND PAYING STOCKS: I am sure you can find any number of articles on this subject, so I leave that to you if that is your area of interest. My point here is - In current times, dividend paying stocks are double strong - they pay dividends + they can go up. So make use of this opportunity. Some good ones - Johnson & Johnson, Verizon Communications, Phillip Morris International, AT&T, Exxon Mobil, Chevron, Procter & Gamble, Pfizer, General Electric, and Merck
  • ON WHY I BELIEVE STOCKS STILL ARE THE PLACE TO MAKE MONEY  - Please don’t get me wrong, I DON’T RECOMMEND STOCKS, Mutual funds etc – the wall street. But I do recommend stocks if you stay educated, love reading news, and stay on top of your portfolio. Stock market – it is a market like the ‘sabji mandi’ in India – come BUY your things, and USE them (make money and sell them), don’t take the sabji home and let it rot. Yes, stock market is the only place where you will get the most returns. MIND you, sometimes the returns are NEGATIVE as well. I have been there too. DISCLAIMER – these are solely my opinion!!!.
  • Basics of Investing have to be strong in the long run - you should not end up broke. Try balancing the below:
Keep your principal. Weigh/Analyze your current income. Strategies towards growing your capital. Some play towards aggressive income. Investments tied to growth.
